The Section was established in November 2004 for information professionals working in the private equity and venture capital industry internationally.

The Section has the following aims:

• to provide a forum to facilitate networking of information professionals in private equity or venture capital
• to offer meetings for the discussion of issues pertinent to the industry
• to raise the profile of information professionals in the industry and promote best practices
